Boundary Survey

A survey made to establish or to re-establish a boundary line on the ground or to obtain data for constructing a map or plat showing a boundary line. The term boundary survey is usually restricted to surveys of boundary lines between political territories. For the survey of a boundary line between privately owned parcels of land, the term land survey is preferred, except that in surveys of the public lands of the United States the term cadastral survey is used.
